About This Site
Yes, another website about data science. But data science is such a broad field, and there are so many people doing so many interesting things, that it’s only natural for there to be a plethora of sites devoted to the field. Like many other sites, I talk about machine learning, displaying data visualizations, and providing the occasional code snipits in R or Python. But I also include some elements that I feel aren’t represented as much as they could be, including (but not restricted to):
- Specialty sub-fields, techniques, or topics (e.g., Bayesian networks, social network analysis, causality)
- Soft skills for data science
- Curation of especially valuable articles from other sites
Regarding the last bullet, I’m doing this as much for myself as for you. Like I said, there is an incredible amount of material out there. When I find a valuable piece of content, I want to bookmark it for my own use. And as long as I’m going to this effort, why not let you benefit as well?
I hope you enjoy reading the articles and find them useful. You can connect with me by using the form on the Contact page. And thanks for stopping by!
About Mark Meloon
I’m a Senior Data Scientist currently working in Silicon Valley where I apply data science to solve a variety of problems our clients face. My formal education was not in data science but rather obtaining a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Caltech. It wasn’t until my first job out of school where I worked for a small defense contractor did I enter the world of machine learning.
Since then, I’ve ventured deeper and deeper and been fascinated by the latest advances. There is so much out there that it’s impossible to stay on top of it all, but that doesn’t stop me from trying! I’m a junkie when it comes to buying books about data science.
I encourage you to connect with me on LinkedIn to help expand your social network. While you’re there, feel free to look over my profile. If you want to know more about me, use the form on the Contact page to drop me a message.
